Great American Cleanup Marshall County
April 23, 2022
The Byhalia Area Chamber Main Street hosted the Great American Cleanup of Byhalia on April 23, 2022, in conjunction with Earth Day. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day in our little town for this important event. This year our volunteer base, which doubled from 2021, stunned us by tripling the amount of trash picked up from our roadways, business parking lots, schools, community spaces, and neighborhoods. Our 80 volunteers, ranging from 5-years-old to 82-years-old, collected 150 bags of trash plus large debris. We are so proud of our community, businesses, and industries for partnering together for the betterment of Byhalia.
Thank you to Keep America Beautiful and Keep Mississippi Beautiful for creating and growing this invaluable program. We appreciate your sponsorship and guidelines to ensure volunteer health and safety.
A word from Byhalia Mayor Weathers, “The time to clean up our town begins with the action of “ONE”. It is the responsibility of all to keep our town litter free. Thank you to all who participated; Businesses, Chamber partners, individuals, Byhalia Police Department, Byhalia Fire Department, Byhalia Garden Club, Byhalia schools, and coaches. I look forward to working again with everyone this fall.”
Thank you to Mayor Weathers for supporting our efforts and for assisting BACMS and volunteers throughout the event. We also share Mayor Weathers’ sentiments thanking all participants!
